BAFANA Bafana will have to adopt a more attacking approach if they are serious about beating France in Bloemfontein tomorrow.
This is the view of South African soccer legends after Bafana collected only one point in two matches in the 2010 World Cup.
"Attack is the best form of defence and the only thing Bafana must do against France," said former Bafana winger Harold "Jazzy Queen" Legodi yesterday.
"We made school-boy mistakes in the match against Mexico - we should have beaten them.
"I don't think the game plan was executed properly against Uruguay. We knew that they are not good a team, but work hard as individuals.
"We knew that Diego Forlan (who scored a brace against Bafana) was good but we chose to ignore him. The problem with coach Carlos Alberto Parreira is that he doesn't replace players who are not doing well.
"It does not make sense to keep a player who is not delivering, what message are you sending to the other players who are on the bench.
"We have players like Macbeth Sibaya, Siyabonga Nomvethe and Bernard Parker who should be given game time. Katlego Mphela should be partnered upfront.
"I don't see us beating France if we play like we did against Mexico and France," added Legodi.
Andries "Local is Lekker" Sebola believes the national squad has what it takes to beat France.
"But we need to change our approach. We need to attack more and forget the defensive system."
Lucas "Rhoo" Radebe is also against us using a lone striker. "It does not work, even Brazilians teams do not use it.
"We did not play well in the two games and that will have to change if we are serious about beating France."
