Like the rest of the nation, Bloemfontein fans were bitterly disappointed with the results of the matches against Mexico and Uruguay.
Ardent Bafana and Bloemfontein Celtic supporter Prince Masekoane said the mood in Bloemfontein after the Uruguay defeat was so sombre that "it was as if there was a funeral in the whole city".
He said though many had given up hope, the people of Mangaung have united and are behind Bafana.
"We are determined to give Bafana all the strength and energy to beat France. And they will beat France," Masekoane said.
"We can't go through all the difficulties we went through to host the World Cup and then surrender in the first round of play.
"We are going to go to the stadium and sing nonstop for 90 minutes to give Bafana strength. Bafana is our team, they know our passion and our support for them. We love them.
"Our president (Jacob Zuma, pictured) must also be here as there is something that spurs the players on when their leader is present.
"Also, the coach must bring us two strikers.
"You can't go into battle with one striker."
Said honorary president of Safa-Motheo Buks Molatedi: "Bafana will get us the four points and score more goals."
