SOUTH Africa's Under-17 women's team is waiting for its European counterparts to complete their final qualifying matches to know who they will meet in the group stages of the World Cup.

The Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Germany and Spain will tussle for the three places available to their region. The team that places third will complete in Group B, which comprises South Africa, Mexico and Korea Republic.

The Under-17 Women's World Cup runs from September 5 to 25 in Trinidad and Tobago. The host nation will face Chile in the opening game of the tournament.

Bantwana team manager Fran Hilton-Smith said her team will go into camp this month, where the coaching staff, headed by coach Solly Luvhengo, will choose the final squad.

"We already have 19 players but we have been watching the Absa and Sasol women's leagues and have spotted some good players. The next step is to take 25 that have impressed into camp and select the remaining 11," explained Hilton-Smith yesterday.
