I WAS disappointed with Archbishop Desmond Tutu's speech at the Fifa World Cup concert.

Pease do not get me wrong. I respect uTata Mandela, but to say that the World Cup is all because of one man is unfortunate. Where does God the creator fit in in all of this?

We thank God for all our forefathers - Shaka Zulu, Dingane, Cetshwayo, Steven Bantu Biko, Onkgopotse Tiro, Muntu Ka-Myeza, Tsietsi Mashinini, Robert Sobukwe and all fallen heroes who fought oppression. We do not idolise them, but we thank God for them.

We have replaced our creator with uTata Mandela. We have made him a god and forget that he is not a prophet or a god. He was a vessel that God used to fight apartheid. The book of Exodus clearly says: "You shall have no other gods before me and "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below."

Archbishop Tutu should know better. We have shifted our focus away from God to a mortal. It is God's will and favour upon our continent and nation to be hosting this magnificent event. He alone deserves the praise, the honour and the glory.

Tutu needs to meditate on the Word of God. He should know we give glory and praise to God alone. God has made World Cup possible. He has been so good to our nation. Why do we think that this is because of one man?

If it wasn't for God's favour, mercy and grace, we would not be having this event. God gave Tutu a platform to speak of His goodness and grace for Africa, but he failed to do so.

Our government has rejected God by banning Bible reading and prayer in schools.
