THE DA has laid the current strike by security guards at stadiums at the feet of the Local Organising Committee.

THE DA has laid the current strike by security guards at stadiums at the feet of the Local Organising Committee.

Security guards have gone on strike at at least four stadiums throughout the country due to a wage dispute with their employer, Stallion Security.

The guards claim that they were told some would be paid R1500 and others R500 but they were only paid R190.

DA MP Dianne Kohler Barnard said yesterday LOC head of security Linda Mti must be held accountable for the breakdown.

Barnard said the terms of salaries and hours were not made clear to the employees.

She said the strike put a strain on the police. About 1000 police officers have been deployed to affected stadiums.
