JOURNO LAYS DOWN HIS PEN

MAWANDE Jubase is no more.

MAWANDE Jubase is no more.

I was exposed to Mawande as a journalist, a colleague, comrade and later a friend. Of course, he was not a saint.

Like all young men, he loved life. He was a humble man who will be missed by both foes and friends.

Mawande was a smooth communicator. During the illness that felled him, he remained resolute, patriotic and loyal. He was committed to a harmonious relationship between the government and its citizens.

His death is a big loss to the entire government communications fraternity.

Minister of Transport Sbu Ndebele once said: "It is the dead that open the eyes of the living."

How true.

The government, media fraternity and our people have lost a real asset.

May his soul rest in peace.

I extend my deepest sympathy to his family, friends and relations.
