Aucor attains record sales

AUCOR's recent auction of a mansion in Welkom and its contents was successful.

AUCOR's recent auction of a mansion in Welkom and its contents was successful.

"Though it was signed up without reserve, we achieved more than double the anticipated sales values," Aucor director Paul Winterstein said.

With more than 50 registered buyers and close on 200 people through the doors on the day, an amazing atmosphere and celebratory feel permeated the sale.

"There was a high level of excitement and keen bidding on everything, with much interest shown by buyers on items they would not be able to purchase easily on the open market."

Both Harley Davidsons achieved record prices and there was competitive bidding for a diverse selection of items, spanning a Mont Blanc pen and pencil set to garden furniture, exercise equipment, a hand-made riding saddle and a piano.

Unusual items such as navy diving helmets, suits of armour and decorative swords all attracted attention as did an antique pocket watch and nautical equipment.

Toys for boys made an impressive showing, with a collection of miniature cars snapped up, varying from a Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz CLK, Aston Martin DB7, Chevrolet Impala and Volkswagen Beetle.
