This was after ASA assistant interim administrator Richard Stander wrote to the Northern Cape Sports Council asking them to investigate Marthinus for alleged financial irregularities.
"Richard is targeting me after I challenged ASA in the Sowetan two weeks ago to channel more resources into development," Marthinus said.
"My argument is that since Leonard Chuene and the ASA board were suspended by Sascoc (the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee), athletics is dying.
"Under Chuene's leadership, all the provinces used to get financial support for development and to send athletes to national competitions. Since the appointment of the interim board, we have not received a single cent and now Richard wants to silence me for enquiring about financial support.
"There is no way I will undermine the sport - the sport is bigger than an individual. Those people used the same tactics used to get rid of Chuene. They used Sascoc to suspend Chuene, now Richard is using the Northern Cape Sports Council to get rid of me. He is dividing us in Northern Cape.
"There is a special general meeting on June 26 that will be attended by ASA provincial structures and it is clear that Richard does not want me to be part of athletics anymore."
Regarding the allegations of financial irregularities, Marthinus said: "I have nothing to hide, anybody is welcome to investigate our books. I have always been a volunteer in this sport and will never take anything that is not mine. This is just a strategy by Richard to portray me as a bad person.
Stander said: "I'm not going to be threatened by Loretta, that's her position. Members in Northern Cape must decide whether she is right or wrong."
