SPAIN - Barcelona president-elect Sandro Rosell says he will attempt to sign Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas if coach Pep Guardiola still wants the midfielder.

Rosell won Sunday's club elections with more than 61percent of the vote and he said at a news conference yesterday that has already met Guardiola and outgoing president Joan Laporta. He said he will meet them again in the next few days to ensure a smooth transition on July 1 when Laporta's seven-year mandate ends.

Rosell said he will discuss Fabregas with Laporta and Guardiola. If the coaching staff want the Spain midfielder, "we will do everything to help bring him", he said.
