"In 18 years of touring as a professional cricketer I saw many different countries, but Australia's ability as a nation to host successful major events, together with the welcoming nature of the Australian people, always made me feel proud," Waugh said.
Australia last Thursday officially withdrew from the race to stage the 2018 World Cup to fully focus on hosting the 2022 tournament. Fifa will make a decision on the hosts for both World Cups in December. - Sapa-AFP
