Troughton set for fight

THE battle between Thanda Royal Zulu and coach Sammy Troughton is likely to go to court after Troughton claimed that Amabhubesi failed to pay him his full salary for May.

THE battle between Thanda Royal Zulu and coach Sammy Troughton is likely to go to court after Troughton claimed that Amabhubesi failed to pay him his full salary for May.

The former University of Pretoria and Mpumalanga Black Aces coach is also unhappy after Royal allegedly reneged on a verbal agreement that he would still be in charge of the National First Division team in the new season.

"But they have brought in (Mlungisi) 'Professor' Ngubane as their new head coach and what does this mean to me?" said a fuming Troughton yesterday.

Ngubane, who confirmed last week that he had renewed ties with Royal, begins his new job at the club on July 1.

Troughton has confirmed that he has sought legal opinion on the matter.

"The first option is that the club should be fair and stick to the agreement and pay me everything that is due to me. If they decide otherwise, I will be left with no option but to go the legal route," he said.

"These guys don't have a reason not to pay me fully for the month of May."

Royal's chairperson, Peer Delvax, said he would only talk about the matter today.
