New life for Minenhle

NEW SABC1 Live presenter Minenhle Dlamini says she will not be dumping her studies.

Dlamini was voted the new Live presenter, outshining three other contestants in the final of the competition.

But this beautiful, young, and intelligent media, drama and economics student from the University of Cape Town is moving to Johannesburg.

She said winning the competition meant she had to move to Jozi or leave university.

"I cannot choose between the two. Education is very important to me, but I need to live in Johannesburg in order to do it. I have decided to relocate and study there and do both," Dlamini said.

"I am going school hunting from the beginning of this week. Dropping out is a no-no. There are a couple of colleges that are open for registration at this time of the year," she said.

She said though she was going to miss Cape Town and her friends, the move would open up new challenges and an opportunity to discover herself and grow as a person.

Dlamini, 19, from the upmarket Durban North Suburb, heard that she had made the cut on Monday and was told to keep it a secret until the winner was announced on Friday.

"It was the longest week of my life, keeping this a secret from my friends and siblings. I have to confess I couldn't keep it to myself and I eventually told my parents, the people I trust the most.

Dlamini is going to be presenting Live with Bonang Matheba and Phila Mazibuko on Fridays.

"I am very excited. The competition was tough. I am still pinching myself. It still feels unbelievable that I'm living my dream."
