'We are fully behind you Bafana'

AS South Africa takes on Mexico today, citizens have joined the Voice Behind Bafana Bafana.

AS South Africa takes on Mexico today, citizens have joined the Voice Behind Bafana Bafana.

The campaign encourages South Africans to support the national team during the 2010 Fifa World Cup. The aim of campaign is to collect 10million SMSes.

The messages will appear in Avusa's six major newspapers: Sowetan,The Times, The Herald, Dispatch, SundayWorld and Sunday Times.

Deputy Minister of Sport and Recreation Gert Oosthuizen said: "Bafana Bafana, 48million people are behind you, they have placed their hopes and aspirations on your shoulders."

South African Football Association president Kirsten Nematendani, pictured, said: "As president of Safa I urge everyone to join the Voice Behind Bafana Bafana so they can perform successfully during this tournament."

Said ArchbishopNjonkonkulu Ndungane, president and founder of African Monitor: "As we celebrate this momentous, uniting and historical moment in the history of Africa; the Soccer World Cup, I wish Bafana Bafana and all the other African teams success."

Cope president Mosiuoa Lekota said: "South Africans from all backgrounds are united behind this cause.

Nobel Peace winner and human rights campaigner Archbishop Desmond Tutu said: "Bafana Bafana you have our undivided support."

President Jacob Zuma said: "Bafana Bafana will surprise the world. They will end up in the finals."

Former president FW de Klerk told us: "The coming Fifa World Cup tournament will undoubtedly be the greatest event in our proud sporting history."
