Collecting school shoes is fulfilling

YOUNG people leading the High Praise Centre Church's school shoe collection and distribution programme know that one derives joy and fulfilment from giving selflessly.

YOUNG people leading the High Praise Centre Church's school shoe collection and distribution programme know that one derives joy and fulfilment from giving selflessly.

Sibongiseni Phahla, a volunteer from the church - which is of Benjamin Dube Ministries - is headed by gospel musician Benjamin Dube - said the 12 institutions that will benefit are the Bopang Kgotso, Abinala, Rebontsheng, Ndlelanhle, Thembakazi, Mthimkhulu, Jonginkulu, Polokegong, Nageng and Khayelihle primary schools in Ekuhurleni, Gauteng.

"Our target is 2000 shoes, but getting more would be a bonus," said young Phahla.

Local radio station Kasi FM, Sowetan and the Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation support the campaign.

A music show is planned. To attend, bring a new pair of school shoes. The handing over ceremony will take place on June 20. For details, call Phahla at 072-595-8400 or Ntombi Mthethhwa at 072-187-8965.
