THE City of Johannesburg yesterday urged people going to the 2010 World Cup opening match between Bafana Bafana and Mexico to buy park-and-ride tickets in advance.

THE City of Johannesburg yesterday urged people going to the 2010 World Cup opening match between Bafana Bafana and Mexico to buy park-and-ride tickets in advance.

The city's MMC for transport, Rehana Moosajee, said tickets can be bought at Computicket outlets and online at www.ticketbreak.co.za.

People parking their cars will pay R50 for a sedan, taxi or similar (15, 18 or 24-seater). The charges are R100, R500 for a 35 to 40-seater and R700 for a 64-seater. The designated park-and-ride facilities are:

For Soccer City:

l Wits Campus (University of the Witwatersrand)

Enoch Sontonga Avenue and Empire Road, Braamfontein

l Constitution Hill

Joubert Street Extension, Braampark

l Gold Reef

Data Crescent in Gold Reef, south of the Johannesburg CBD

For Ellis Park:

l Wits Campus (University of the Witwatersrand)

Sontonga Avenue and Empire Road, Braamfontein

l Bez Valley

10th Street, Observatory

l Gold Reef

Data Crescent in Gold Reef, south of Johannesburg CBD

l Constitution Hill

Joubert Street Extension, Braampark.

Park and walks: These are facilities located within walking distance of the match venues.

Spectators will park their vehicles and walk to the stadium along a designated route. The metro police will provide full protection at these facilities.

For Ellis Park, the Park and Walk facility is:
