AS THE world gets ready for the biggest sporting event kicking off tomorrow, Africa's princess of song, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, is hard at work.

She is preparing for one of the toughest jobs during the month-long World Cup - making sure our children are not exposed to pornography.

A patron for the Anti-child Pornography Campaign run by the Films and Publications Board, Chaka Chaka and her colleagues will have their work cut out for them.

Her appointment follows the realisation that during events like the World Cup pornographic activities increase.

She says: "I feel honoured. This is an emotional subject. I have been chosen to try and stop this evil practice dead in its tracks. It will not happen overnight but each child who gets saved gives us hope and encouragement to continue doing this difficult job.

"Part of my work will be to talk to parents about this campaign.

"Parents must take responsibility for their children and what they are watching. They need to be vigilant about their safety and security."

Two other ambassadors are poet Lebo Mashile and SABC3 soapie Isidingo actor Meshack Mavuso.
