Cup ushers in time of joy

THE time to celebrate is now. Never before has South Africa been able to celebrate an event so great without having to endure suffering and bad memories.

THE time to celebrate is now. Never before has South Africa been able to celebrate an event so great without having to endure suffering and bad memories.

This is genuinely a time to celebrate the values that make this country the jewel it is.

This is the time for South Africans to step out of their comfort zones - to come out of their shells and express themselves.

It is Africa's World Cup . it is South Africa's World Cup. It is a time when people have an excuse to be loud. The World Cup will give people a reason for celebrations to set the nation free.

One should discover oneself through neighbours and excited children. People should want to say, "I was there during the time of the World Cup."

A great revolution has to take place in the minds of South Africans, a revolution that is neither political nor about money.

South Africans will experience the vigour of South Africans.

It will be a journey of self-discovery. Those who have not yet been born should envy us; and those who are too young to remember should find pride in knowing that they were alive during a glorious time.

This World Cup should not be about money and what you have and don't have. Our greatest assets during this time are each other. One's thoughts will become a nation's thoughts.

If the World Cup doesn't provide a good excuse to talk to your silent neighbour nothing else will. The tedious times spent in long queues at the bank should roar with conversation. Nothing should be taken for granted.

Leave politics to politicians and newspapers. Families will get together and time will not be spent alone.

South Africa, stand up and make some noise for Mzansi! Live it and love it. The time for celebration has come!
