Bird Park reopens

WITH a price tag of R4,5million, the opening of the Umgeni River Bird Park has come as a relief to thousands of Durban residents.

WITH a price tag of R4,5million, the opening of the Umgeni River Bird Park has come as a relief to thousands of Durban residents.

The park , home to several thousand exotic and indigenous birds, closed its gates nine months ago.

Yesterday eThekwini municipality unveiled the largely unchanged Umgeni River Bird Park to the media.

Durban deputy mayor Logie Naidoo said the closure of the bird park last August would have denied future generations a chanceto learn more about the various bird species found in the park.
