The programme, which will include soccer tournaments, will be launched at Greenfields Primary School in Alberton today at noon. It is a joint venture between the departments of education, community safety, economic development, health and social development as well as the Gauteng Tourism Authority.
Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will outline the events the government will be rolling out until the end of the World Cup.
"The programme is aimed at all the grades since the schools will be closed for the duration of the World Cup," said MEC for arts, sports, culture and recreation Nelisiwe Moerane. "The youth will take part in sports and excursions, as well as arts and culture classes." - Ramatsiyi Moholoa
