SERBIA will arrive at the OR Tambo International Airport today quietly confident of upsetting the applecart at the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

One of their better known players, Nemanja Vidic of English giants Manchester United, said their underdog tag could be a blessing in disguise for the team during the World Cup.

The Serbians are captained by Dejan Stankovic, who plays for European champions Inter Milan.

Affectionately known as "The Eagles" in soccer circles, Serbia, who are fresh from a 4-3 win over Cameroon, will engage Ghana, Germany and Australia in Group D.

The team includes Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea, CSKA Moscow's Zeljko Krasic and Milan Jovanovic of Standard Liege.

The Cameroon team will arrive in the country tomorrow along with reigning world champions Italy, as well as Honduras and Slovakia.

Ivory Coast touch down on Thursday. Switzerland arrive on the same day.

Spain will be the last team to arrive, touching down on Friday, when the World Cup kicks off with Bafana Bafana's game against Mexico.

l The Desert Foxes of Algeria landed at King Shaka International Airport in Durban yesterday and their coach Rabah Saadane said they were happy to have finally arrived in South Africa.

Speaking through an interpreter, Saadane said: "I feel like I'm in my country, back home in Algeria. The main part of the preparations have already been done. We will have to focus on the psychological aspect and thereafter it will be technical preparations."

The Desert Foxes dashed down to KwaZulu-Natal's South Coast immediately after their arrival.

They have been paired with the USA, Slovenia and England in Group C.

l Three-time champions Germany also arrived on a crisp, clear Monday morning on the national airline's first official Airbus A380 jumbo flight.

"We want to show South Africans from the outset that we are happy to be in their country," said manager and former national team striker Oliver Bierhoff, before the Germans headed for a hotel near Pretoria.

Teams already in the country include Australia, Brazil, South Korea, North Korea, England, Ghana, Japan and Argentina. - additional reporting by Sapa-AFP
