AMERICAN heart-throb John Legend touches down at OR Tambo international Airport this morning, hot on the heels of Colombian sensation Shakira who arrived yesterday.
Next up is Alicia Keys who is scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning. The Black Eyed Peas were expected last night. The international stars are part of the more than 200 performers, including dancers, drummers and acrobats, who will set Orlando Stadium alight on Thursday night at what has been dubbed the greatest music extravaganza in Africa's history.
Publicist Penny Stein told Sowetan that tickets for Thursday's concert, set to be attended by 30000 eager music fanatics, were almost sold out.
"This is one of the most anticipated music concerts ever and tickets are being snapped up very quickly," Stein said. "The show is almost sold out. So anyone who wants to get to the stadium (for the concert) should get a ticket now."
Stein promised concert goers "an electric atmosphere".
Meanwhile, there were chaotic scenes when Shakira touched down yesterday. Tempers flared as journalists jostled for the best vantage point.
As soon as she completed immigration formalities, she was whisked away, with no interviews given, leaving photographers very frustrated.
Late yesterday, her record company Sony Music apologised to journalists for the mix-up at the airport.
"Sorry for the pandemonium at the airport. We hope you got your shots," said an SMS sent to photographers.
Concertgoers have been advised to get to the stadium as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
Gates will open at 3pm and 150 free park-and-ride buses will ferry people between Nasrec and the stadium. Only a valid concert ticket will gain you access onto the buses. People without tickets will not be allowed on board.
Stein said cars would not be allowed around the stadium precinct and "those forcing their way through will simply be turned back to Nasrec".
A drop-off point is at Mooki Street. That will be the only access point into the stadium.
Music revellers will be picked up from the same spot after the concert, which ends at about 2am on Friday.
Fans will not be allowed to bring their own food, but snacks and beverages will be on sale inside the stadium.
