So the shenanigans involving one Jimmy Manyi, the controversial director-general in the Department of Labour, are a cause for concern.
When Minister of Labour Membathisi Mdladlana appointed Manyi as his head of administration more than a year ago, the latter was president of the Black Management Forum.
Calls were made for Manyi to relinquish his position in the BMF. He addressed the matter with a forked tongue, telling all and sundry that he was more than capable of executing his duties and that wearing both caps was not a problem.
Later Mdladlana put pressure on him to choose between the two jobs and his answer was an emphatic no.
Last week the problem-prone Manyi stepped on the wrong toes and messed with a Norwegian diplomat, who wasted no time taking the matter up with the powers that be.
Now Manyi has been suspended pending a disciplinary hearing.
