Celebrities will help clean Joburg

MORE than 150000 Johannesburg residents are expected celebrate World Environment Day by taking part in the second Pikitup Clean-Up Day tomorrow.

MORE than 150000 Johannesburg residents are expected celebrate World Environment Day by taking part in the second Pikitup Clean-Up Day tomorrow.

Celebrities will lead the youth and community environmental awareness and education tool of the City of Jo burg's waste management company Pikitup.

Celebrity participants include soccer legend Marks Maponyane, radio and television hosts Penny Lebyane and Nothemba Madumo, actress Sophie Ndaba, ACTORS and crews of e-TV soapies Scandal and Rhythm City, SABC3 drama 7de Laan, SABC environmental awareness show 50/50 and the Golden Lions's rugby team's management and team.

It will cover 74 sites throughout Joburg's 1625km² area from 9am to noon. Volunteers will collect more than 63000 refuse bags and rid Jozi of more than 255 tons of waste.
