Nkambule was arrested on March 25 during a high profile police raid by members of the Mpumalanga police organised crime unit.
He was charged with fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, defeating the ends of justice and incitement. His case was postponed to June 18 for a trial date.
His R8000 bail was extended pending his next court appearance.
His arrest was related to the controversial hitlist with the names of influential people, mostly politicians, including the late Mbombela speaker, Jimmy Mohlala.
Mohlala was shot dead at his KaNyamazane home in January last year. When the police arrested Nkambule they allegedly took a copy of an affidavit that was allegedly produced by a Mozambican national known in the criminal underworld as Josh.
This man (Josh) allegedly confessed to killing Mohlala and that he was willing to cooperate with the police if he was promised safety.
He has allegedly been interviewed telephonically by national police commissioner, Bheki Cele who also interviewed Nkambule in March regarding the issues of the murders and the hitlist saga.
Nkambule was initially remanded in custody during his first appearance in the Nelspruit regional court on March 26 and successfully made a formal bail application on March 31
Speaking to the Sowetan shortly after his release at the time Nkambule said the charges against him were "definitely not to go anywhere as they were only meant to confuse the public".
"The charges against me will not stand the scrutiny in any court of law.
They are just a diversion from the real issues and attempt to prevent me from moving ahead with revealing and exposing the type of political murderers that we have in political office in our province," he said
