THE United States' World Cup squad arrived in Johannesburg yesterday after a 17-hour flight.

After leading his team off the plane at the OR Tambo International Airport, coach Bob Bradley picked out the team's opening game against England as a chance to make an impression on the tournament.

Bradley called the June 12 match-up "a great opportunity".

Like the other teams who have arrived, the Americans were greeted by an armed task force that surrounded the plane on the tarmac. - Sapa-AP
