GAUTENG boxers stole the limelight at the weekend, winning all their fights in style during a tournament organised by the Limpopo Boxing Institute.

The Capricorn district municipality had sponsored the tournament but Limpopo fighters failed to use home-ground advantage and were trounced by the Gauteng boys.

Gauteng fighters won despite partisan fans who had thrown their weight behind local fighters during the boxing gala at Mankweng outside Polokwane on Saturday night.

Morris Mutshavhatsindi was the only Limpopo fighter who won a game, while Gauteng stars' Samson Ndlovu won through a technical knockout in the second round of the junior welterweight fight. Elias Moremi outclassed Richard Mphaphula on points in the same category.

Shadrack Mamaila beat Charles Sekhwibidu on points in the junior featherweight and Thabo Moabi also prevailed over David Dlamini in the flyweight.

Gauteng won the main bout with Kobus Motlhoding beating Vincent Mulaudzi on technical knockout in the second round of their middle weight contest.
