LOOT WAS STASHED AT HOUSE

A STASH of the cash stolen during the R100million OR Tambo International Airport heist was found hidden at a house in a village in Venda.

A STASH of the cash stolen during the R100million OR Tambo International Airport heist was found hidden at a house in a village in Venda.

Testifying in the Johannesburg high court yesterday, Captain Gregory Paulse said they found three bags filled with US dollars on top of a wardrobe in a house at Hamutsha village outside Thohoyandou.

"We were taken to the house by Ananias (Nepfumembe, accused number four)," Paulse said.

"When we arrived at the house a woman, whom he said was his sister, opened the door. He led us to a bedroom where we found the bags of money on top of the wardrobe. We took the bags back to Pretoria."

Paulse said that was two days after he found accused number one, Super Ncube, whose real name is Fox Sithole, and another man at the Zimbabwe border about to flee from SA.

"We received information about two men who were driving towards the Beitbridge border post with large amounts of foreign currency notes.

"We immediately headed there and found the described car about to cross the border. We found the money on searching the car. The driver, who introduced himself as Super, could not explain where the money came from. All he said was that it was his money."

Nepfumembe, Sithole, Eddie Ubisi, Ronnie Mbuyisa, Uakareraife Maunda, Thokozani Ziqubu, Vusi Dlangalala, Tijuana Uakotela, Cecil Arendse and Christopher Billings allegedly stole R100million from a parked aircraft at the airport in 2006.

The accused have pleaded not guilty and are standing trial, while three former Acsa employees - Nazir Ismail, Sean Soobramoney and Magdalene Moonsamy - all pleaded guilty and are serving suspended sentences.

They all turned state witnesses.
