Durban airport move a blow to Umlazi workers

OUR government decided to move the old Durban Airport away from the people of Umlazi, the same people who voted for them.

OUR government decided to move the old Durban Airport away from the people of Umlazi, the same people who voted for them.

During and before the elections the ANC embarks on a door-to-door campaign and promises service delivery to the poorest of the poor.

The poorest of the poor do not live at Umhlanga Rocks. The people who worked at the old Durban airport now have to pay more money for transport . We should have renovated the old airport and used a big chunk of the budget for other infrastructure such as schools and so on .

They say the Gautrain will ease traffic congestion, but currently, there is a lot of congestion. This train will move between Sandton and OR Tambo International, but the people who live between these two areas have cars. I believe the people from Soweto need the Gautrain more than the people from Sandton and its surroundings.

The recent protests from various townships around the country are a sign that people are gatvol with our government.

I am not sure if there is anyone who conducts any proper planning from the side of the government.

An apology for taking away Durban Airport, which created jobs for people from Umlazi and surrounding areas, will not bring back the airport.

This move is to make sure that the poorest of the poor will always be moved away from services that would benefit them.

I doubt if we will continue voting for these betrayers. Before they are elected, we hear about service delivery to the poor. Unfortunately, straight after the elections, this changes to poor service delivery.
