In an open letter released yesterday, UPM chairperson Ayanda Kota criticised the president for claiming that he created over 500000 job opportunities in the Expanded Public Works Programme last year.
During the same period, more than a million permanent jobs were lost.
"The Expanded Public Works Programme is a non starter. Our members who have participated in this programme have returned into the trenches of the unemployed from whence they came.
"They are unable to set up their own businesses or be employed as promised," Kota wrote.
"I know facts are hard, but if you have failed the masses, tell the truth.
"Unemployment must be declared a national disaster, worse than tsunami."
Kota said Zuma must "immediately bar all ANC leaders from competing for government tenders, including their cronies, boyfriends and girlfriends".
UPM also demanded that the president investigate all party leaders who have "unexplainable wealth".
