The musical is marking its 10th year on the world's stages, exporting South African culture and history - told through dance and song.
Produced by Richard Loring, African Footprint is South Africa's longest-running show. It is an explosive stampede of song and dance that tells the vibrant and diverse story of South Africa through a dazzling display of traditional African, kwela, tap, contemporary ballet, gumboot, and hip-hop pantsula dances.
The first performance of African Footprint was on Robben Island on December 31 1999, with the public debut in May 2000.
This first performance was viewed by a global audience that included guests of honour Nelson Mandela and then president Thabo Mbeki. Other high-profile guests included UK's Prince Charles and his father Prince Phillip, former US president Bill Clinton, Oscar-winning actors Louis Gosset Jnr and Danny Glover.
The production has staged more than 3800 performances since 2000. The non-stop, 90-minute musical of Africa's emergence onto the world stage is linked by the poetry of Sophiatown legend Don Mattera.
The show recently completed a highly successful tour of Mexico, US, France and Lebanon.
