The tour affords all South Africans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get up close and personal with the Cup.
South Africa is the last stop on the world tour, a Coca-Cola initiative. The local tour started in Khayelitsha a fortnight ago and will visit 38 cities and towns across all nine provinces.
The Cup was in Nelspruit yesterday but will return to the province on June 1, this time visiting Witbank's iconic Lyneville Stadium in eMalahleni.
"We encourage fans to take this opportunity to get up close and personal with the World Cup," said Mlungisi Mathonsi, Coca-Cola Shanduka Beverages boss.
In Polokwane, Cassel Mathale, the premier of Limpopo, will be among the guests to welcome the trophy at the new Peter Mokaba Sports Complex. The Fifa World Cup stands 36,8cm high, weighs 6,175kg and is made of 18-carat gold.
On Friday the world's greatest soccer prize will appear at the Fields College Indoor Sports Centre in Rustenburg, North West, in a public viewing area. On Saturday, the trophy will be at Rabasotho Hall in Tembisa, the next day at Pretoria City Hall. Soshanguve residents can see the trophy on June 2 at the Tshwane University of Technology.
