The flamboyant American will jointly present the WBA lightweight championship with Nestor Sunshine Promotions of budding promoters Nestor Tobias and Dingaan "The Rose of Soweto" Thobela on Saturday.
Namibian boxer Paulos "Hitman" Moses will fight against Venezuelan Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta at the Windhoek Country Club.
Acosta, the current WBA interim champion, arrived at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday before connecting to Namibia.
He fights under Don King Promotions, which was supposed to have staged the fight in Venezuela after winning the rights with a purse bid of R1,17million.
According to WBA rules the champion should receive about 55percent of the purse and an interim champion should get 45percent.
Moses, 31, will bid for the second defence of his title after he successfully defended it against Takehiro Shimada last July in Windhoek.
That was the first World title fight to take place in Namibia.
Tobias, who also trains Moses, flew to Las Vegas for a face-to-face talk with King regarding their respective shares.
"It was not easy," Tobias said. "But I must say that Telecom, Nampower and the Namibian government deserve praise for coming to the party, and also made it possible to talk sense with King."
Tobias and Thobela are former stablemates from Norman Hlabane's gym.
They were also influential in setting up the boxing commission in Namibia.
Retired boxing administrator Stanley Sono also played a pivotal role in the training of officials.
Thobela was once signed by King, whose career highlights include promoting the historic "Rumble in the Jungle" between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in the then Zaire in 1974.
The US promoter is also remembered for staging the "Thrilla in Manila", featuring Ali and Joe Frazier in the Philippines in 1975.
