A woman was killed and three others were seriously injured when a car collided with a bakkie on the N2 North-bound near the Tongaat Toll Plaza yesterday.
The accident, which halted traffic for a few hours, saw the driver of the bakkie being airlifted to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital.
It is believed that a car that was travelling towards Durban's city centre lost control and veered across the road and slammed head-on into the bakkie. A third vehicle also slammed into the stationary vehicles.
The driver of the city-bound car died on the scene while her passenger sustained serious injuries.
Netcare spokesperson Jeff Wicks said: "All the injured were treated and stabilised on the scene before being taken to nearby hospitals." - Khulekani Mazibuko
