VODACOM'S Join the Voice behind Bafana Bafana campaign is gathering momentum as more people across the country egg on the team to success by SMSing their messages of support to Bafana Bafana at 35600.

Hundreds of Sandton City customers had a chance to meet soccer legend Helman Mkhalele and other celebrities, such as Kwela Tebza, Bozza from Skwatta Kamp and Mandoza, at the weekend.

Shoppers who visited the Vodacom information kiosk on the upper fountain level, near Mont Blanc and Tanzanite International, got autographs and had their photos taken with these celebrities and the soccer legend.

Mkhalele and musicians were there to add their voices to the chorus and encourage people and their fans to Join the Voice behind Bafana Bafana and SMS their messages of support to the team. Impressive instant prizes were also won by those who had sent messages.

One lucky winner was Beric Barker, who walked away with a hamper consisting of a Vodacom vuvuzela, makarapa and a Bafana Bafana supporter's shirt. All he did was send his message of support to Bafana Bafana to 35600 and his name was entered into the lucky draw. Mkhalele, who is a former Bafana Bafana player, happily posed for pictures and signed autographs.

"This is a great initiative and it is good to involve soccer legends to also encourage the nation to keep on supporting Bafana Bafana," he said.

Mkhalele remembered how happy they were when they received messages of support from the nation during the Afcon Cup in 1996.

He said some of the messages couldn't reach them as fax machines sometimes jammed and he believes the SMSes are a great way to go and that people can send as many messages of support to the team as they wish.

The messages of support will also be entered into a draw and one lucky winner will walk away with a cash prize of R1million .

Let's make the circle of support for Bafana Bafana bigger. Come on and let's show them.
