"The tournament will continue beyond the World Cup and we are engaging the Department of Basic Education to this effect," said Sasfa secretary Steve Pila yesterday.
My 2010 School Adventure was a campaign used by government and the Local Organising Committee to create awareness of the World Cup among school children.
It was divided into three - education, development of sports skills and coaching, and participation in regional and national schools soccer tournaments.
"My 2010 School Adventure was a roaring success since its introduction in the build-up to the 2009 Confederations Cup, for us it is a 2010 Fifa World Cup legacy project," Pila said.
"We hope to see some of the youngsters who participated in the soccer pillar feature for National First Division and Premiership clubs and be part of the junior national teams."
The Department of Arts and Culture, where Dudu Mazibuko is in charge of the 2010 World Cup projects, used it to teach the learners and educators about national pride.
This included protocols for singing the National Anthem and hoisting the flag. "The national flag should never touch the ground, it should never be used as a table-cloth, it should never cover a statue or plaque at the unveiling," said Mazibuko. "The red band must always face the sky."
