Lifelong injuries

BABY Marzanne Kruger may never be able to see again. The one-year-old and her nanny were attacked by robbers in their home more than a month ago.

The robbers turned out to be people known to the Krugers and nanny. They had done renovations on the family house. So when they returned days later the nanny had no qualms about letting them in.

Unfortunately they had not come to work but to commit a heinous crime.

Understandably the Krugers blame the nanny for exposing their little girl to harm. They have since dismissed the nanny.

She, in turn, has approached the labour courts for recourse. That is her right.

Apparently the nanny had worked for the family for many years. The relationship between the employer and the employee had already been strong.

Otherwise the family would not have entrusted their home and bundle of joy to her. Now this!

It will be double whammy for little Marzanne, who will be left with lifelong emotional scars from both the tragic incident and a severed bond with the nanny.
