ONE of the country's finest disc jockeys, DJ Cappuccino, says he is doing everything possible to inspire the youth to take education seriously if they want to succeed in life.

Real name Fortune Maswanganyi, Cappuccino will be graduating with a degree in media studies from the University of Limpopo's Turfloop campus on Tuesday next week (May 25).

He said he had to juggle his hectic schedule to also accommodate his studies in a concerted effort to prove to the youth that everything is possible "as long as one is committed".

Maswanganyi, 30, is a renowned DJ He is also employed at Limpopo's only commercial radio station, Capricorn FM, where he co-presents the MixDown Avenue, playing music on Fridays and Saturdays with George Nkoana.

He enrolled for the course in 2005 but could not sit for examinations because of his hectic schedule. Maswanganyi said he resumed his studies the following year butthis time took the minimum number of courses at a time.

He sat for his final examinations in November last year and obtained two distinctions in media studies levels 2 and 3.

"I dedicated most of my spare time to my books to ensure that I obtained my degree," he said.

"Education refines the way you think and view things. It's is important to go to school and not let the culture of learning die in our communities," Maswanganyi said.

Hee also holds a B-Tech in chemical engineering from the Tshwane University of Technology, which he obtained in 1999 while it was still called Technikon Pretoria.

"It does not end there. I'm still studying political science at the University of Limpopo, on top of establishing an outreach programme to motivate high school pupils to tell them about the importance of education."

Maswanganyi released an album last year called Fine Coffee Brew Volume 1, which he said was doing fairly well. He is now working on the next volume to be released later this year.
