MUSIC producer Sello "Chicco" Twala cheated death yesterday when a speeding car rammed into the back of his luxury Range Rover.

The accident happened on the N12 West highway opposite Southgate Mall at about 2.15pm. Twala was travelling with funnyman Oscar "Madluphuthu" Mgudlwa of Dr Madluphuthu and TheShangaan Tree fame to a movie shoot. They had stopped at a roadblock when another driver slammed into the back of Twala's car. Obed Sibasa, the assistant director of Gauteng Traffic Police, says a white Toyota Tazz travelling at high speed rammed into Twala's 4X4, causing it to bump into the cars in front of it.

"There was a loud bang. The car caught fire with the driver inside but we extinguished the fire," he says.

"We suspect the driver was high on something."

The injured driver was rushed to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital where he was said to be in a coma, with serious head, neck and chest injuries. He will be charged with reckless and negligent driving when he regains consciousness.

Twala and Madluphuthu, who did not sustain any serious injuries, were taken to Mulbarton Clinic and later discharged.
