THE one-year-old National Youth Development Agency says it has created more than 38000 jobs.

NYDA chief executive Steven Ngubeni told Parliament's portfolio committee on Women, Children and People with Disabilities yesterday that by 2013, the NYDA would have handed out R40million in loans to young entrepreneurs.

But unimpressed MPs questioned the figures.

"I want a list so that I can go and check," said committee chairperson Barbara Thomson.

The MPs were even less impressed when Ngubeni said the jobs were created in businesses set up by NYDA loans. - Anna Majavu
