MADRID - Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho wants to coach Real Madrid, and he says he is ready to start next season.

Mourinho said in an interview with Spanish daily Marca yesterday that his only options for next season were Inter or Madrid, and he would only leave the Serie A champions for the Spanish club.

"All I can say is that a great coach or player who doesn't play at a club like Madrid will finish their career with something missing," Mourinho said. "I want to coach Real Madrid, 100percent. Whether it will be next year or later I can't say."

Mourinho will lead Inter against Bayern Munich on Saturday in the Champions League final at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid. Inter have won the league and cup double this season.

"To leave this club after two incredible years of work, it can only be for Madrid," said Mourinho, whose contract expires next season. "And if I go it's with a clean conscience."

Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini's future looks uncertain after his debut season saw the club's trophy drought continue despite new president Florentino Perez spending R2,3 billion on players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaká.

Madrid finished second to Barcelona for the second straight season and were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by a third-tier club and lost in the first knockout round of the Champions League. - Sapa-AP
