MPUMALANGA police have recovered stolen goods in Mgobodzi near the border with Swaziland.
Tonga police spokesperson Sergeant Mzwandile Nyambi said yesterday they received a tip-off about two men who were seen carrying expensive electric appliances.
"We raided the house during the early hours of yesterday. When the suspects saw the police they ran away. After searching in one of the rooms, we recovered many electric appliances.
"The appliances include laptops, video cameras, and cellphones," Nyambi said.
He said they had taken all the items to the police station so the owners can come with the necessary documents to collect their goods.
"We suspect the goods were stolen in Swaziland because no one has opened a case concerning the matter at our police station."
Nyambi said they would contact Swaziland police to check if the items were stolen in that country.
Nyambi said one of the suspects phoned the police and told them that he would bring some more items.
"He says he is willing to bring everything that they have stolen. He even promised to come to the station to give more information pertaining to the seized appliances," Nyambi said.
He warned people against buying stolen goods to avoid falling into trouble.
