THE top leadership of the ANC Youth League has gone all out to try and douse the raging fires of discontent displayed by its members in several provinces.

In a bid to quell the simmering revolt, the NEC disbanded provincial executive structures in the Eastern Cape and North West.

Some members of the league's NEC told Sowetan that the disbanding of PECs, regions and some branches was part of a scheme by the Malema faction to hold on to power ahead of next year's conference.

ANCLY spokesperson Floyd Shivambu said the NEC was building stronger structures.
