DESPITE being bundled out of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup by Pakistan a little over a week ago, life goes on for the Proteas.
After spending a couple of days analysing what went horribly wrong for the side in the tournament, it's back to business with the first match of a six-week tour beginning today at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica.
Two T20s, five one-dayers and three Test matches await them and it will be interesting to see how they manage to pick themselves up after being convincingly KO'd once again in a major tournament.
But any notion that the team have spent the past week lolling about on one of the beautiful beaches in the West Indies was shot down by coach Corrie van Zyl.
"The players have trained hard for the past few days. They know they have to bounce back quickly. We have only had 11 of the 16 players but I expect the others to fit in quickly when they arrive," Van Zyl told Sowetan from their base in the Caribbean yesterday.
The team has been given a clean bill of health by the medical staff and with the addition of Hashim Amla, David Miller, Alviro Petersen and Lonwabo Tsotsobe to boost the squad, the selectors will be anxious to find a settled, winning combination.
Van Zyl said Tsotsobe had been delayed by air travel problems and would probably be considered only for tomorrow's second match.
He said Miller would probably arrive today.
