FormerGenerations star Palesa Mocuminyane has landed a plum job as a lead actress in a new e.tv series called Neighbours. The four-part series starts airing in July.
Mocuminyane, who played Palesa Ndu, a music executive at Mashaba Media, will play Nomsa, a famous music star who later falls from grace.
The former Miss Rockville left Generations in February last year and this is her first television job after leaving the popular highbrow soap opera while she was on maternity leave.
A very excited Mocuminyane said she could not fold her arms and wait for a call from Generations. She said she had no idea when Palesa Ndou was coming out of jail.
" I decided to take matters into my hands and get a job. I could not just sit and wait for a call from Generations because I did not know when they would decide to take Palesa out of jail."
She said leaving Generations was not the end of the world and of her acting career.
The 33-year-old married mother of two added that she was happy that channels other than the SABC were opening doors for actors.
"A lot of actors are happy that channels like M-Net are opening space for local content and local actors. I am also excited that Top TV has come because it will open opportunities for us. At least the pool of actors in South Africa will not only depend on the SABC for exposure."
Mocuminyane, who is trained as a stage actress, was discovered by Lillian Dube when she joined the veteran actress's agency in 1995. She has appeared in many dramas and short stories such as Justice 4 All, Gaz'lam, Stokvel and a few radio dramas.
