THE South African Hockey Association yesterday unveiled Giles Bonnet as new coach of the women's senior team.

THE South African Hockey Association yesterday unveiled Giles Bonnet as new coach of the women's senior team.

Association chief executive Marissa Langeni described Bonnet - who boasts massive international hockey experience - as the right person for the job.

"Bonnet is an FIH (International Hockey Federation) Grade 1 coach with 25 years' experience in international hockey, 10 years as a player for South Africa and 15 years as coach," Langeni said.

Bonnet has also worked in Belgium, Holland and China.

He was in charge of the Chinese national team who won silver at the 2008 Olympics.

Bonnet's first assignment is to take the national team to China for a training camp and 12 Test matches against the host country.

The team leaves for China on May 28. - Ramatsiyi Moholoa
