A UN delegation converged on Alexander Soccer Stadium on Friday to launch the United Nations Millennium Goal CD.

The CD, 8 Goals Away, creates awareness about the UN's goals to fight malaria and other diseases.

The lyrics of the album were written by Kenya's Eric Wainaina, and the music was composed by Mozambican guitarist Jimmy Dludlu.

Renowned US musician Arthur Baker produced the project.

Among the heavyweights who participated in the making of the album are Senegal's Baba Maal, Benin's Angelique Kidjo, Wainaina, Mozambique's Chivas, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Hugh Masekela and HHP.

Unfortunately, only Chaka Chaka and Chivas were present at the launch.

According to the UN the album is aimed at heightening awareness and understanding of the challenges that prevail in Africa through edutainment.

Children from the township came out in droves and were given soccer balls to kick around on the field as part of the event.
