THE coming Congress of the People's first elective congress continues to be marred by controversy.

THE coming Congress of the People's first elective congress continues to be marred by controversy.

Some provinces are threatening to boycott the event that is to be held in two weeks' time.

Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Free State - which support Mosiuoa Lekota for president - say they will boycott the congress because some of their branches have not been accredited to send voting delegates.

Some Cope members in North West are also threatening a boycott.

Limpopo Cope leader Sello Moloto has been quoted as saying the party was not ready for the conference.

Cope general secretary Charlotte Lobe said the party's national committee would discuss the matter tomorrow.
