BAFANA Bafana manager Sipho Nkumane's future could be in jeopardy after he was suspended by Safa for the second time in less than two months.

BAFANA Bafana manager Sipho Nkumane's future could be in jeopardy after he was suspended by Safa for the second time in less than two months.

Sowetan has learnt that Nkumane's suspension came after the Adidas bus carrying Bafana during the camp in Germany last month was not branded, which has nothing to do with him.

In addition, there were no billboards of the Bafana sponsors when the team played to a goalless draw against North Korea in Germany.

Nkumane was suspended along with two other Safa staff members from the commercial section, Victor Nkosi and Solly Moerane.

Like Aaron "Mbazo" Mokoena, the trio are from the Vaal. Sowetan has learnt that certain Safa officials want Mokoena replaced as Bafana captain by Steven Pienaar.

Safa has since appointed its strategic manager Dennis Mumble as acting team manager, sidelining Gugu Marawa, who is Nkumane's long-time assistant. Two months ago, Nkumane was suspended by Safa and could not go to Brazil with the team as he was required to submit a budget for the camps in Brazil and Germany. Marawa was the acting manager in Brazil.

Mumble made a dramatic return to Safa early this year. He was forced to leave in 2001 after the MegaPro scandal. Mumble (then Safa general manager) gave MegaPro exclusive marketing rights, against the recommendations of the Pickard Commission.

He received a golden handshake after being fired.
