Bucs coach in anxious wait

ORLANDO Pirates coach Rudi Krol seems to be in the dark about his future at the club.

Krol has been insisting that he is staying at the Buccaneers to see out his contract, which expires at the end of next season, but he now seems uncertain about his future at Parktown.

After his side was bundled out of the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals by Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, signalling his second season without a trophy, Krol's expulsion could be imminent.

Asked if he was staying at Bucs, Krol could not give a straightforward answer.

"I still want to stay and finish off the project I started," Krol said after the match against Downs. "This has been a crazy season for the team. We have been creating chances, but not scoring and this has been one of the biggest problems.

"Also, we lost Benson Mhlongo, which was a huge blow, and Lucas Thwala was in and out of the squad."

The Ghost are divided on the issue and this was evident from the placards at Kings Park Stadium on Sunday.

"Bye bye Krol . Holland is your next stop!" read one poster, while another countered with "Rudi must stay!"
