CONCERNED ANC members at Kwezela in Donnybrook, southern KwaZulu-Natal, stepped in to assist the family of Jimmy Zimba, demanding his corpse be released for burial.

Zimba, a teacher at Siqhoza High School, died last week in hospital after an illness. But his family and wife, Ncamsile Mkhize, fought over the rights for his burial.

Mkhize planned to bury him in their house but his family disputed that and were backed by ANC members.

Police had their hands full on Saturday trying to calm a mob that wanted to take Zimba's coffin from Mkhize's house to his parents' homestead.

Zimba was finally buried yesterday after an agreement between the families.
